Project “Waad Al Shamal”/Saudi Arabia
In June 2016, Welland & Tuxhorn AG was awarded the contract covering the design, manufacture and delivery of HP, MP and LP bypass systems, a solar bypass, and the hydraulic stations for the “CCPP Waad al Shamal” combined cycle power plant in the north of Saudi Arabia. The planned construction period for the complete plant totals 48 months. With an output of 1,390 MW, the plant can provide energy for approx. 500,000 Saudi households.
This project is an example of the topic of “plant safety”. The development of the concept factored in functional safety and the safety integrity level SIL. This will allow Welland & Tuxhorn to offer a reliable and efficient safety concept for international requirements.
